OBJ on Facebook posts is an “object replacement character” in Unicode that's used as a text placeholder for an otherwise unspecified object. It means that OBJ is a replacement for a character that can't be displayed on your screen.
OBJ models are polygon based, Blockbench models are cube based. This means that Blockbench can export OBJ models by converting boxes to polygons, but it is generally impossible to convert polygons to boxes, which means that you cannot import OBJ models into Blockbench. The latter applies to all similar 3D formats like glTF and FBX.
The Source folder has another .mtl and .obj similar to the obj in the main folder - I _think_ these are for the metallicity/shine) I can load the SummonersRift.obj into Daz3D and then I get a completely white object. I don't really understand how I am supposed to use the .mtl (or any other way) to point Daz3D to which textures belong to the .obj.
What software are you exporting to OBJ format from, and what software are you importing the OBJ file into? It's not clear from your post so far. If you exporting from Blender, if you enabled Materials at export time there will be an MTL file beside the OBJ one. Make sure it's still alongside the OBJ file at import time. Texture images may not come in cleanly, you'll have to rebuild the ...
To put it simply, the previous answer given is incorrect, as this OBJ is actually an Object Replacement Character. Basically, an ORC is a character used when the font or device used has no idea what the actual character is supposed to be.
Hey guys I'm not a surveyor (is that your job title?) or anything, I'm an IT guy by trade but I was given 9 *.laz files that I need to convert into .obj, .stl, or some other usable format.
OBJ was a good exchange format in the late 90s, but it’s not really appropriate with today’s polygon counts. I don’t know about the current state, but when I looked into using fbx, there was no format documentation, and the only way to use it was to use a binary-only third party library with a questionable license.
For context, someone asked me if I could texture a rock they made in normal Minecraft in blender. So, I used jmc2obj converter and then input the obj into objtoschematic.com, I thought I would be able to just apply the texture over the obj model but it actually applies to each block individually. Is there a way to subvert this?
Objects (.obj) not appearing when imported in Blender. Hi, I've been playing around with Spark AR and they have a couple of face assets with one being an (.obj) file face mesh. I haven't been able to import this on Blender. I choose Import > Wavefront (.obj) and then chose my .obj file, nothing happens. A few times it imported a circle.
